NYC Bucket List: Lil’ Frankie, Mole, and Luke’s Lobster

Pizza stuffed with Prosciutto, Mozzarella, Ricotta and Truffle Oil

I started my weekend Bucket List with a visit to Lil’ Frankie’s in the Lower East Side for Christie’s going away celebration. We began with a few appetizers (not pictured) the Burrata Mozzarella – basically mozzarella that is creamy and soft on the inside, served with tomato and basil. It was simply fantastic. And the Calamari, which was very typical. Then came the fabulous entree of two pizza. Pizza 1 was mouth watering both from the menu description and in taste. I forget the exact name but it was stuffed with prosciutto, mozzarella, ricotta, and truffle oil. OMG! It was like being in heaven.

Sausage, Red Onions, Cremini Mushrooms, Fresh Mozzarella and Tomato Sauce

Pizza 2 was just as delicious – the Norcina Pizza. A more typical pizza topped with sausage, red onions, cremini mushrooms and mozzarella. It was the perfect meal. We of course paired it with two bottles of wine, a sparkling red wine and a bottle of Prosecco with a shot of St. Germane (elder flower liquor) added for flavor. It was good to the last drop!

Saturday was dinner with “the Salty Bitches” – the fun that that we have for our group of runner girls because you get so salt after running long distance and sweating – a little inside joke.

Duck Enchiladas in Mole Sauce

We decided to have dinner at Mole in the Upper East Side, near Maria’s new apartment. The special was duck enchilladas in mole sauce. How could I say no? It was cooked perfectly and satisfied my craving. The waitress was a little lax, but it gave us time to enjoy our margheritas and catch-up.

Sunday dinner was a tasty lobster roll from Luke’s Lobster in the Upper East Side. This one has been on the bucket list for a long time and was unexpectedly crossed off this weekend with Jen and Liz. For only $17 you get a lobster roll, drink, chips, and a pickle.

And there were great big chunks of fresh Maine lobster on this amazing buttery roll. What I liked even more was that there was hardly any mayo! The root beer was also very good. I’m glad I went with it. The roll was so filling I almost thought I wasn’t going to be able to fit it all in. But I didn’t want to waste lobster!

Good friends and good food. I could not have asked for a better weekend of eating!
